Telco analytics company Opensignal which says it uses billions of real user experience measurements has dubbed 2degrees as the mobile provider with the fastest 5G in New Zealand.
Opensignal's numbers shows that 2degrees provides 5G downloads of 285.2 megabits per second on average, which is 43.5 Mbps faster than Spark and Vodafone.
Upload speeds on 2degrees were also the fastest in the country, at 31.9 Mbps, Opensignal said.
The 5G upload speed for 2degrees compares with 18.4 Mbps for Vodafone, and 21 Mbps for Spark.
2degrees provides the most consistent mobile experience as well, Opensignal data suggests.
5G availability for NZ users remains low, at 5.3, 5.8 and 6.2 per cent of the time, for Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees respectively.
Overall availability is best with Spark at 99.2 per cent of the tie, followed by 2degrees at 98.7 per cent and Vodafone at 98.2 per cent.
Meanwhile, Vodafone is the New Zealand telco to beat on overall experience, scoring top marks for video, gaming, voice app, download and upload speeds across 4G and 5G.
When it comes to 4G coverage, Spark is the best telco, scoring 9.4 points out 10; Vodafone is second at 9.0/10 and 2degrees last at 8.6/10.
