Kiwi cyber security specialist distributor Chillisoft has inked a deal to become email security vendor Mimecast’s first and only distributor in Aotearoa New Zealand and Fiji.
The deal sees Chillisoft add all of Mimecasts’ solutions to its portfolio of solutions in response to the changes seen in the cyber security market in recent years, according to Chillisoft CEO Alex Teh.
“The combination of high-profile cyber attacks and a skills squeeze due to COVID lockdowns has shaken up the industry,” said Teh. “As a result, we are in an environment where cyber security needs are at the highest, and resourcing is at the lowest, increasing the need for a product with a high efficacy rate.”
“After 25 years of selling email security solutions, I can hand on heart say that the number one cyber attack vector is still email. It’s critically important for NZ organisations and channel partners to have an enterprise solution with high efficacy rates in blocking and quickly remediating against such attacks, and Mimecast has the ability to do this,” he added.
“Partners have traditionally trusted Chillisoft to have the technical and sales competency to lead and direct touch end user engagements. Our goal with Mimecast is to provide the facilities and technical resources to be able to support its solutions and customers, so we’re excited at the potential of this partnership in 2022 and beyond,” Teh continued.
Originally a single vendor distie that focused on providing ESET EDR solutions, Chillisoft has expanded its portfolio in recent years to include a range of security vendors as it aims to build out a full stack of complementary solutions, also acting as a sales and support presence for those vendors it works with.
Mimecast ANZ channel sales director Craig McGregor said that this support was a key driver behind choosing Chillisoft as its NZ distie.
“The opportunities for cyber security companies with the right partnership structure in New Zealand are huge,” said McGregor. "While we know the New Zealand market well, Chillisoft gives us and our partner base a deeper local knowledge and strong stable of complementary vendors, some of whom we already have alliances and API integration with, to the benefit of our customers.”
He added, “While we already have a steady presence in New Zealand, partnering with Chillisoft gives us even greater depth and reach across a growing market and provides the right structure to help New Zealand organisations strengthen their security posture against an increasingly volatile cyberthreat landscape.”
Last year, Chillisoft made moves to expand its presence in Australia, broadening its agreement with SIEM vendor LogRhythm and launching its ESET-backed managed endpoint detection and response solution across the Tasman.
