Global professional services company Cognizant is looking at substantially growing its New Zealand business, to capitalise on the country's IT spend which is set to grow by over 10 per cent, outpacing that of the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia.

Cognizant appointed Simone Moors in February as its New Zealand chief executive as part of the expansion plans.

Prior to Cognizant, Moor was the country manager of housing valuers CoreLogic.

She has also held roles with Vodafone, AMP and Dimension Data.

Under Moors, Cognizant said it expects to triple staff in New Zealand which it took on after acquiring Servian in 2021, from 150 to 450.

Cognizant has offices in Auckland and Wellington, and works with customers in a range of sectors including financial services, technology, retail, resources, logistics and more.

Moors said the New Zealand market is "ripe for growth", as a region with strong cloud infrastructure and IT adoption.
