Deloitte's New Zealand division has released a new environment, social, governance (ESG) solution, together with United States enterprise resource planning firm Workday.

Called Accelerate2zero, the solution enables the development of a dynamic emissions reduction strategy, to shield organisations from carbon price exposure and enhance operational efficiency, Kurt Proctor-Parker, a partner at Deloitte Australia told CRN NZ.

Accelerate2zeero sets up a five-step process with science-based targets and how to achieve that cost effectively.

The solution identifies the most emissions in an organisaiton and sets up budgets on monthly, quarterly or annual basis, Proctor-Parker said.

"Sitting across the organization’s, financials, Accelerate2zero provides clear oversight over the impact of your emissions strategy on your financial performance.

Accelerate2zero generates reports that can be included in executive management, board, investor and annual reports," he added.

The New Zealand built solution was developed with Deloitte partner and ERP provider Workday with flexibility, scalability and rapid deployment in mind, Proctor-Parker said.

It can be used as a stand-alone solution or can be fully integrated into financial processes for a holistic approach to emissions management.

Accelerate2zero integrates with Workday and other ERP systems and data sources so that important information, such as fuel consumption or travel data from suppliers, can be readily factored into the equation, he added.

Legislation passed in New Zealand designed to decarbonise the economy over the next few years, and to de-risk large public and private entities drove the development of Accelerate2zero, Proctor-Parker said.

The Public Trust Crown entity which provides wills and estate administration services is among the first to use Accelerate2zero, in line with the government mandate that its agencies should become carbon neutral by 2025.

Deloitte NZ wants Accelerate2zero go global.

"Besides New Zealand, multiple jurisdictions are introducing climate disclosure mandates.

The immediate compliance requirement is placing private and public entities under significant pressure to ct measure and manage their emissions inventories to achieve net carbon neutrality," Proctor-Parker concluded.
