Silver Fern Farms goes with Oracle for HR-ware

Oracle has won a contract with meat processor Silver Fern Farms to deploy its Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) to provide a modern, unified platform that gives employees access to shared information across different locations.

With exports worth US$2.5 billion to more than 60 economies annually, Silver Fern Farms has over 7000 employees across the country.

The meat processor's chief people officer Matt Ballard said that prior to the Oracle solution, Silver Fern Farms used a suite of disparate homegrown tools that did not integrate with other systems.

That meant payroll, recruitment and talent development required a high level of manual intervention, Ballard said.

On top of that, to avoid human errors, Silver Fern Farms' HR team spent a signicant amount of time verifying data and managing, rather than engaging with employees to help them enhance their performance.

With Oracle's Cloud HCM, Silver Fern Farms has been able to streamline and reduce its annual review cycle of workforce remuneration from several weeks to ten days, while allowing multiple compensation processes to be handled simultaneously.

Employee engagement has improved by over 60 per cent, Silver Fern Farms said.

Whereas under the previous employee goals platform only 10 per cent of staff used it, the Oracle solution has seen a 74 per cent uptake.
